Additional Information
One of the most popular sites for liposuction is the thigh. Thigh liposuction can remove or reduce areas of fat that have not responded to diet and exercise, and give you the silhouette you want. There are several different liposuction techniques and any of them can be used in thigh liposuction. Please note that liposuction is recommended only for people who are already within 20% of their ideal weight. It is not intended to be a weight loss surgery.
The length of time required to complete the surgery depends on the technique used and the amount of fat to be removed, but it can vary from as little as 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Other cosmetic procedures may be performed in conjunction with thigh liposuction surgery, but that will increase the duration of the surgery.
Choice of anesthesia should be discussed between you and your surgeon before the day of your surgery. Most surgeons choose local anesthesia during a thigh liposuction because the treatment area is limited, but some surgeons may prefer to use general anesthesia, where you sleep through the procedure.
During the recovery phase, you are awakened and moved to a recovery room where nurses monitor your vital signs for about 2 hours. You may feel nauseated or cold during this time, and some people can be emotionally upset as they come out of anesthesia.
